Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 03:15PM I really want to thank everyone who wrote in and called and asked how Carter was doing after the fire. He was fine, but did lose everything. Fortunately for a college student that doesn't mean too much, mostly his computer, camera accesories, phone gadgets, widgets, midgets and more.....a bunch of replaceable tech stuff. And after I spent a day and $100 in the laundry mat in Bozeman trying over and over to wash that smell out of his clothes, we came to the realization that most of them he didn't actually wear! It was so funny, we were hauling loads and loads out of the washers back to the driers and I started to look at them and noticed I had never seen him in them and he started to think about it and realized he hadn't unpacked them for several years! Well then what in the heck are we trying to save them for! We both got a chuckle out of that and piled them into the bed of his truck and threw them all back into the burned out building, smoke smell and all!
After couch surfing for about a month, relying on the kindness of college buds, he has his own place again. Fortunately it is only temporary as he will be home for the holidays and has opted to stay in Hawaii rather than return to the bitter cold winter weather of Montana! At some point he must move to LA, where all film makers must migrate to sooner or later, and look for more permanent work.
